It can be the scourge of ponds and yet some lucky pondkeepers do not even know what it looks like.

Anyone who does have it will know it can block pumps and bottom drains, choke plants and generally look very unsightly. It can range from short little strands on the side of the pond to covering everything in long green hairs which grow at an alarming rate.
